Molti tra gli attori che hanno fatto parte dell’universo di Doctor Who hanno reagito su Twitter all’annuncio del nuovo Dottore. Questa domenica è stato annunciato infatti che Jodie Whittaker sarà la prima donna ad interpretare il Dottore nella serie sci-fi di lunghissima data. Tra coloro che hanno commentato c’è anche Colin Baker, che ha interpretato il Dottore a metà anni ’80. “La BBC ha fatto davvero la cosa giusta e lasciando che il Dottore si avvicinasse al suo lato femminile,” ha scritto Baker. “Come padre di figlie – è un risultato!”
L’entusiasmo dell’attore per il casting della Whittaker è seguito dalla co-star dell’attrice in Broadchurch, Arthur Darvill, che ha interpretato il personaggio di Rory Williams in Doctor Who, e che ha scritto, “Si Jodie.” L’approvazione è stata espressa poi anche da Billie Piper, che ha interpretato Rose Tyler, semplicemente con un “YES”, mentre Pearl Mackie, che interpreta la compagna più recente del Dottore, Bill Potts, ha scritto “Gwaaaan #jodiewhittaker #doctor13”.
Come era stato precedentemente riportato, la scelta della Whittaker è stata supportata anche dall’attore che lei andrà a sostituire, Peter Capaldi. “Chiunque abbia visto il lavoro di Jodie Whittaker saprà che lei è un’attrice meravigliosa con grande individualità e fascino,” ha detto l’attore con una dichiarazione. “E soprattutto lei ha un grande cuore per interpretare questo ruolo molto speciale. Lei sarà un Dottore fantastico.”
Jodie Whittaker diventerà il Dottore nello speciale di questo natale, che andrà in onda su BBC America il 25 dicembre.
